Japanese Garden at night
A glimpse of our Japanese Garden aglow at night!

This event is made possible with underwriting from the New York State Council on the Arts, administered locally by Phelps Arts Council.

Come see your favorite gardens aglow with lights, and stroll the grounds on a balmy summer's eve - the ONLY time all year that the beauty of Sonnenberg is showcased at night!

This year, as renovations continue at our Mansion Veranda, all music performances are held under cover of our Music Event Tent, located between the Old-Fashioned Garden and our 1887 Mansion. Bring your folding lawnchairs and picnic blankets and set up your own seat under the lighted tent (or just outside it, if you prefer) or choose from among some of the (limited) seats Sonnenberg provides. All concerts are held rain or shine!

Snack on light refreshments sold by the Friends of Sonnenberg or sip delicious wines by the glass sold by our Finger Lakes Wine Center. Enjoy the ambience of a Horse & Carriage Ride, narrated by the costumed drivers from Granger Homestead ($5/adults, $3/children - rides unlikely Aug. 13). Stroll our Gardens, lit once again, as you enjoy the sounds of sensational music provided by this season's featured performers:

July 9: John Beck - Bourbon St. Jazz
July 16: Bobby Henrie & the Goners - Rockabilly
       July 23: Bristol Mtn. Bluegrass
July 30: Rochester Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra
Aug. 6: Cross-Eyed Cat (Rock & Classic Blues)
Aug. 13: Fem Vindar (Classical Ensemble)

There's no need for advance reservations as all admission is  at the gate. Sonnenberg accepts the 4 major credit cards or cash for this evening event. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. each Friday night, allowing ample time for guests to meander their way up through the lighted paths, enjoying the eventide vistas and viewscapes. A single, rotating tram is available to assist guests with mobility challenges in reaching the Music Tent, but the best views will be seen as you stroll!

Bring your cameras and consider entering the scenes you capture into our 2010 Photo Exhibition Contest, to be held mid-September - late October at the Sonnenberg Mansion.

Sonnenberg thanks NYSCA (New York State Council of the ARTS) and the Phelps Arts Council for special underwriting to support the musical performers featured during this year's Moonlight Stroll Music Series.
