Volunteering: Tram Drivers

Tram Service

Tram Drivers

Tram drivers serve guests at Sonnenberg Gardens by providing transportation through the gardens to the Mansion, Gift shop and Wine Center.

Drivers for multiple passenger trams are on duty during normal Park hours and for Special Events. The primary role of these volunteers is to transport guests to and from the tram stop and to give garden tours around gardens for our patrons less mobile.

Special training is required for this position along with a valid driver’s license and a desire to greet our guest and tell the Thompson story.

Tram drivers are trained on the layout of the Gardens and are taught historical information in order to inform guests as they are transported throughout the grounds.
Shift times are 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, 12:30 pm – 3 pm, 2 pm – 4:30 pm, 3 pm – 5:30 pm (peak season)

Volunteers are needed seven days a week rain or shine.
