Mulching: When Good Gets Bad
January 25, 10:30 am – Noon, $10/person

This presentation examines the advantages of proper mulching and summarizing the age-old problems resulting from mulch piled too deeply around trees. This presentation is designed to illustrate to both homeowners and to practitioners the best management practices of mulching used by arborists. If time allows, issues to be aware of when planting trees will also be discussed. Presented by Finger Lakes Community College’s Berna Ticonchuk. Part of the Winter Education Series. (The mulch program is being rescheduled to April.)

For the Love of Orchids
March 1, 10 am – 3 pm, $20/person
Orchids are the largest family of flowering plants. They are found on every continent except Antarctica and in almost every kind of habitat. Join Bloomfield Orchid’s Joe Kunisch to learn about these amazing plants and what you need to do to give them optimal care. Part of the Winter Education Series. Prepaid reservations required. Annual Orchid Show
March 7, 8, & 9, 10 am – 5 pm, $5/person
Shake off those winter blues by stepping into a green and growing world filled with exotic blooms at Sonnenberg’s Annual Orchid Show. On display, guests will find colorful Cattleyas and Cymbidiums, delicate Dendrobiums, pretty Phalaenopsis, and more. Attend educational seminars and shop for orchids and gifts.

All three events will be held at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park, 250 Gibson Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
